Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy
This technology allows higher levels of radiation to concentrate in the tumor, while lower intensity amounts are directed to the areas where it makes contact with healthy tissues, that is, it works against the cancer causing a lower level of side effects in the patient.
In addition, this technique makes it possible to irradiate the tumor from different angles, with which the concentration of radiation is even higher in the central parts of the tumor.
Conformal or 3D Radiation Therapy
Through magnetic resonance imaging and tomography, doctors create a representation of the shape of the tumor in third dimension. With these data they feed a sophisticated computer system that doses the radiation to the tumor, following its contour with high precision. Thanks to this technique, the involvement of healthy tissue is lower and the destructive efficacy on the tumor is more intense.
Conventional Radiotherapy
It is the one that emits radiation in two dimensions: length and width, with the same intensity and in a limited range of angles. Although it is known as conventional, it is the most convenient in a significant number of cases.
